I did this video for me. This is the first album I remember hearing when I was around 6 or 7 years old in the late 60's.. My dad would play it once in a while and I loved it,, I still love it so on May 4th 2024 I recorded it to CD with my Kenwood KD-550 turntable through my McIntosh C-26 preamp into my fussy 20 year old Phillips CD recorder. On May 4th 2024 I pulled this vinyl out of my Wurlitzer 2610 and recorded it with my Kenwood KD-550 turntable through my McIntosh C-26 preamp into my fussy 20 year old Phillips CD recorder. It's had a rough life but sounds "ok"... Webb cut the last track,, Too Long,, twice,, this one on March 4 1965 and again on June 12 1967. The second one is better. When I was a kid in the late 60's this album was among the very few that my parents had. I made a copy from a beat up reel to reel tape on a beat up reel to reel deck in the early 2000's so I'd at least have a decent copy and the file presented itself to me by accident from the bowels of my PC the other day so here it is warts and all. It's got some rough spots. Tracklist: Medley A1a California...

Suddenly my 6 year old post of this is a mile out of sync for some reason. This is the best version PERIOD of this song, much better than the studio version,,, it's very Faron to outshine his recording live onstage,,, which says ALOT !! Faron had all his skills that night in 1988, the band is tight and kickin' and everybody is generally firing on all cylinders. The fiddle players are Faron's lo...

Some good raw stuff from the late great and greatly missed Tommy Honkytonky's UA-cam channel on Webb's birthday.. P.S. I realize I'm not really in any position to speak to what Webb would or would not "Proudly Present" but I think Webb would graciously agree and defer to my judgement in this matter... :) Track list : 0:02 ~ Elbow Bender ~ Vern Stovall ~ 1968 ~ Dewey Groom who ran the Longhorn B...

I RETURNED FOR YET ANOTHER LISTEN.🎶💎🎶 (Can you tell me if Elvis Presley's recording of the country song YOU ASK ME TO features a steel guitar? It sounds like a standard electric guitar to me, but a commenter claims that it is steel. I have never heard a steel guitar that sounds like this. Perhaps you can give me the name of the musician, who did an awesome job of playing whatever kind of guitar it was. I tried to find this info on my own before troubling you with this issue.) Thanks.😊
Hey Milton !! There's no mention of steel guitar or a known steel player in the session info. The session was on December 11th 1973 at the Stax Recording Studio in Memphis. Session personnel were Elvis, lol,, duh,,, James Burton [gt] Charlie Hodge [gt] Johnny Christopher [gt] Norbert Putnam [bass] Ronnie Tutt [drums] David Briggs [piano] + Stamps Quartet. Producer: Felton Jarvis Also there were two overdub sessions,, one on January 2, 1974 with the band and another on January 10 to add strings. I just listened and can't detect any strings but just because they did the strings overdub session doesn't mean they used it. Didn't hear any steel either.
@@2packs4sure THANKS. SOME "BOT" LEFT A LONG-WINDED COMMENT ON THE VIDEO OF THIS SONG BY ELVIS on the Dimitris and daughter channel and claimed how great the steel guitar sounded.🙈😫🙉 I just wanted to make sure. I don't recall Elvis EVER having steel in his arrangements. Sonny James had only one or two as I recall. Appreciate it!😊😊
@@miltonmoore8369 It's never a problem at all Milton I love doing that kind of research it's fun,,, and I have no recollection of steel ever being in any Elvis song,, possibly Hawaiian steel at some point but that would be it..
@@2packs4sure Wow! You guessed it. About 15 minutes ago I Googled the question if Elvis ever had a steel guitar in any of his recordings, and the answer popped up, yes, in the LP album sound track to the film: "BLUE HAWAII." I should have known.😬🙉 The electric Hawaiian steel guitar was played by ALVINO REY. However, it was very elementary playing and very subdued from what I sampled. Nothing like the gorgeous playing on the Roy Drusky version of HAWAIIAN WEDDING SONG or on Burl Ives DRIFTING AND DREAMING. Thanks again.🤠🥂😊

Good version of the big hit by Mr. Carl Smith, Webb is my all time favorite singer but Carl did this one better than anyone.

I love this album. Thank you for keeping his music alive. People sometimes live through music and it’s ashame we don’t hear words as these. Good song, one of my faves. How about "Wondering" with Webb & Willie singing from their album? I think the Country folk out there will love it!
The Willie Nelson UA-cam channel has it. I wish I could enjoy that album and I bought it when it came out but for me at least Webb after 1971 and especially after 1976 isn't for me.
@@2packs4sure I hear ya, John. I still may have the album somewhere, I think. I prefer Webb in his early years. I have a cassette with some good stuff on it from early on, the kind of Webb style I really like. Thanks for your post. 👍
@@janiceastets5425 I'm actually a little jealous of people and there are plenty of them who love Webb's mid-seventies stuff on Plantation,,, those remakes which I can't tolerate at all,,,, they like the later Webb,, but for me it's a no go.. I like to imagine what the Willie and Webb album would have been if Webb would have been in his mid 60's form,,, that would have been an amazing album!!
@@2packs4sure Yes, so true! But I have to say he doesn't sound too bad on "Wondering" with Willie. I remember that I really didn't play the other songs too much, though. I'm a die-hard old-time country music buff & I'm a stickler for the "original songs" most of the time. This week I found some good stuff from Hank Snow on you-tube, so I played his music for a while. I love his stuff & listening to that Martin guitar he plays. You don't hear that kind of good country today, unfortunately. 😕
@@janiceastets5425 Well I agree,, Webb doesn't sound too bad throughout the album,, he just doesn't sound that good,, although I really liked Heebie Jeebie Blues, that was fun.. And I really like Hank Snow in his prime, I have Breakfast with the Blues on my jukebox...
Wonderful, Webb just made my day great 😂
